MASSAGE STUDIO POLICIES

 
  • Your first session will begin with a brief review of your health history, focusing on problematic or painful areas. This is an important process to determine the course of treatment that will best meet your needs. During this time, you will need to disclose information about your health history in order to make sure massage is safe for you to receive. In some cases, you may be asked to provide a written release from your primary care physician in order to receive massage. Keep in mind that your medical records will be held confidential. In some cases, the information from your chart may be shared with other health care providers, but only with your written permission.

  • Please arrive for your appointment 15 minutes prior to the scheduled starting time. This allows you time to fill out the appropriate health history forms, change and prepare for the session. All massages have a specific time schedule and early arrival allows for a relaxed and unhurried experience.  In order to remain on schedule for all clients, the practitioner may shorten your service time if you are late for your appointment.  The original session rate will be charged.  

  • If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please do so at least 24-hours before your appointment time.  When you miss an appointment, not only does the practitioner lose your business, but also the potential business of other clients who could have scheduled an appointment for the same time.  For these reasons, a cancelation with less than 24-hours notice will be charged one-half of the original session rate, and a no-show will be charged the full original session rate.  ​


  • Prior to each massage session, the treatment plan will be discussed with you and the practitioner will obtain your informed consent for treatment.  During sessions, clients are encouraged to inform the practitioner immediately if anything makes them uncomfortable, either physically or psychologically, so adjustments can be made.  The client may choose to refuse any massage techniques or decide to end the massage early at any time.


  • The client will be modestly draped throughout the massage session.  Only the area being massaged will be undraped.  Breasts, genitals, and gluteal cleft will always be draped and will not be massaged under any circumstances.  The client may undress to their level of comfort for the massage session. 


  • The practitioner only performs services for which she is qualified professionally, physically, and emotionally.  It is outside the scope of the LMT to diagnose or prescribe for medical conditions and massage is not a substitute for medical care.  Referrals to appropriate specialists are made when working with a client who is not within the scope of practice of the LMT or when massage may not be in the client’s best interest.

  • All clients are treated with respect regardless of their age, gender, race, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, socioeconomic status, body type, political affiliation, state of health, or personal habits. 

  • Personal and professional boundaries are respected at all times.  There is a zero-tolerance policy for sexual harassment in my massage practice. Sexually themed suggestion or conversation with the practitioner is NEVER appropriate.  If this occurs, the massage will end, and the client will not be rescheduled for future appointments.  


  • Out of consideration for other clients and practitioners who may be sharing our space, please silence your cellphones and refrain from speaking loudly when in the office.  


  • For your health and safety, I will refrain from providing massage services to anyone who appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.


  • Payment for all services is due at the time of your visit.  Cash, Debit Cards, Credit Cards, and Gift Cards are accepted.  Checks are not accepted.  

  • At your first appointment, the you will receive a copy of the Massage Studio Policies and will be asked to sign the consent stating that you have read the information, understand it, and agree to comply with these polices.
